THE CHIANTI SCULPTURE PARK IS A PERMANENT EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY INSTALLATIONS AND SCULPTURES, FOUNDED ON THE TOTAL INTEGRATION BETWEEN NATURE AND ART
THE HISTORY OF THE PARK
The Chianti Sculpture Park is a permanent exhibition of contemporary installations and sculptures, founded on the total integration between nature and art. Here, since 2004, artists from all five continents have worked with different techniques and materials, proposing site-specific works that fit into the woods, in a perfect combination of lights, sounds and colours.
In the silence of an evocative oak and holm oak woodland in the heart of Chianti, a few kilometers from Siena, artists from all over the world were called to dialogue with nature, enhancing its specific beauty and reflecting on man's intervention. The result is an eclectic but coherent park, in which each work maintains its autonomy but at the same time integrates with the others and with the context that welcomes them.

LISTED IN 2014 BY NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE AS ONE OF THE TEN MOST BEAUTIFUL PARKS IN THE WORLD, THE PARK WELCOMES VISITORS TO THE SILENCE OF THE WOOD: A SIMPLE WALK, WHICH CONTINUALLY OPENS UP TO NEW SURPRISES
THE BRIDGE by Johannes Pfeiffer (2000)
This elegant 19-meter bridge conceived by Johannes Pfeiffer, joins the two slopes of a small gully that floods to a small stream when it rains. The sides of The Bridge are represented by the geometrical equation of a hyperbola. It is the focal point of the Park so that it is possible to look at it from a variety of perspectives, before or after crossing it. Made from rusted iron bars which, seen from a distance, look like wood, it integrates perfectly with the surrounding woodland.
PETRIFIED TREE TRUNKS
Before entering "Off the Beaten Track", you can have a look at the Petrified Forest which lays on the left side of the path. Here the artist is nature. The trunks, four of teak and one of palm, come from a petrified forest in Borneo and date to a period approximately 20 million years ago. Their gleaming surfaces seem to release an energy that has been trapped for too long.

THE AMPHITHEATRE
The Amphitheatre, built in 2009, takes advantage of a natural slope of land. The wings in a Minimalist style are made of white Carrara marble and black granite from Zimbabwe. The terraces and the stage are dressed with slabs of volcanic lava. Some famous people have become permanent spectators: Alfred Hitchcock, Federico Fellini, Charlie Chaplin, Oliver & Hardy and a mother and child. The Amphitheatre is a perfect location for events in summertime. It claims the best acoustics; concerts of classical music, jazz, opera, tango and other kinds of music take place here from July to August. The shows take place every Tuesday evening beginning at 7 pm, the time that the sun disappears behind the stage and the soft light of the sunset creates a magical atmosphere.

LIVE YOUR EXPERIENCE AT THE PARK
The Park is not just a place to be admired: it is a forest to be experienced. Here, where nature and art are in perfect harmony, you can experience different activities and workshops: drawing lessons, painting on canvas or with watercolour, alone or with the family with the expert guidance of the painter Natascia Ghini. Everything is organised according to the needs, requests and age of the participants. A really special activity to personally experience the complete integration between art and nature that characterises the Park.
