2024 marks the first 20 years of life and activity of the Chianti Sculpture Park. It will be a year full of exhibitions and special events to celebrate this important milestone!
After hosting the photographic exhibition by Fabio Giamello, in fact, the new GALLERY dedicated to temporary exhibitions welcomes, this time, the sculptures of Alessandro Chiaramonti and his personal exhibition entitled “Small Things – How children look at fish”.
Chiaramonti’s exhibition is a direct opportunity: Just as art does, so his sculptures speak of us and directly to us. Chiaramonti plays, it must be said, with the concept of childhood and does so in a simple but concrete and direct way. It’s easy for him: behind small things he hides great possibilities, intended and reserved for those who are able, or simply willing, to seize them.
Through rapid hand movements, sometimes just fingers, the material (clay) is modelled to create predominantly figurative sculptures. This proliferation of faces and bodies leads us to liken a work by Alessandro Chiaramonti to a page of text, written in italics. Moreover, the subjects always seem to have something to tell.
«There is an extremely intimate relationship between the artist and that phase that lies between the initial block of clay and the finished work. When I have a motherhood, for example, a thousand women’s faces, memories, expressions pass through my head and hands; and then I change the position of my arms, my mood changes, what you want to convey and what is best to keep to yourself. Until, there it is!». For him, in fact, work is a process in continuous movement, as if it were a dance, a performance.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 11 May to discover his personal exhibition for the Chianti Sculpture Park together with the artist Alessandro Chiaramonti!
A new story of the Park
The Chianti Sculpture Park celebrates its first twenty years of activity in 2024! This is also the opportunity to open new spaces to the public, a portion of the Park designed as an open-air gallery which will be used for temporary exhibitions.
«In 2024 we will celebrate the first 20 years of the Park – explains the director of the Sculpture Park, Chiara Bozzi – and we will do so with events, activities designed for different audiences and a new exhibition area, created in another suggestive corner of our forest. The opening of the route dedicated to temporary exhibitions therefore marks, in some way, a new season for the Park which looks to the contemporary, while maintaining the link with its past. The open-air Gallery blends perfectly with the permanent exhibition, maintaining its characteristics and uniqueness: here too, in fact, art will be the means to enhance nature and its beauty, to reflect on man’s interventions and will open the doors to local and international artists called to dialogue with the forest in a continuous site-specific journey”.
