Thyme, forest strawberry, juniper, violet, cypress and musk; but also wine, from the young one scented with freshly picked grapes, to the Reserve to which prolonged aging gives a softer and more enveloping olfactory complexity. There are many scents and smells that characterize Chianti and to which the exhibition is dedicated.
From March 22, in fact, will be open the temporary exhibitions by Francesca Casale, aka SENSU, one of the most interesting Italian artists of the Olfactory Art movement, an art form that uses perfumes and their applications as a means of expression, involving the sense of smell as a primary means of communication.
The exhibition Partners are Accademia del Profumo, MANE and Tolaini winery.
Francesca Casale (born in Ciriè, Italy 1990) is a multidisciplinary olfactory artist. She works in Verolengo (TO). She trained in the field of essential oils, attending perfumery courses and important institutions in that sector. She later enrolled at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, perfecting her studies in olfactory communication and olfactory art.
WHY SENSU?
The name SENSU is the artistic-olfactory identity of Francesca Casale. Sensu ( 扇子 ) is the word for the Japanese folding fan, the most iconic accessory of Japanese culture and a symbol of good luck. The fan, moreover, is the way in which the ‘noses’ arrange their mouillettes (perfume samples) in their hands. The research focuses on creating sensory experiences and spreading the culture of olfactory communication through art; investigating the olfactory impact in the artistic sphere and making contemporary art accessible through new interpretations, namely that of sensory language.
