Trekking & Art at Piavasciata B.A.C. Hamlet of contemporary art, lunch & guided tour of The Chianti Sculpture Park
The trek starts in Pievasciata an ancient Chianti hamlet whose Parish Church (now abandoned) dates back to the year 1000 and was in charge of one of the oldest parishes in Chianti. The history of this hamlet is interwoven with the war between Florence and Siena, and along our route we will see many important sites like Scopeto Castle.
The roads and paths through this iconic rural landscape will bring us to the Chianti Sculpture Park where we will explore this ‘art in the woods’ on a guided tour which will explain the history of The Park and its artworks. But before the tour we will break for lunch with fine wine and food provided by Itinera Vintage Caravan wine. Lunch with choice menu can be purchased on site.
The last part of the excursion takes us on a walk through the Pievasciata B.A.C project to discover some of the artworks of the ‘hamlet of contemporary art’. This unique hamlet has wonderful, unique panoramic views over the beautiful rural Chianti landscape.

A unique experience combining art and nature in the Chianti hills, near Siena.
- The route winds through rural landscapes and a picturesque oak forest home to artworks by international artists.
- The starting point is Pievasciata, an ancient historic village involved in the war between Siena and Florence and now known as a Village of Contemporary Art (Pievasciata BAC) thanks to its numerous works of art.
- The itinerary includes a guided visit to the nearby Chianti Sculpture Park, an “enchanted forest” exhibiting contemporary art.
- The experience combines the discovery of local history (such as the parish church dating back to the year 1000 and the Scopeto Castle) with immersion in a fascinating landscape enriched by art!
Traveling along a road in the heart of Chianti, lined with vineyards, olive groves, and dry-stone walls, we find ourselves in Pievasciata, a small village where contemporary art has taken root. Two giant, six-meter-tall figures dressed in red peek out from among the cypress trees, while a glass fan in the colors of the earth and sky enhances the breathtaking view. Motionless figures and animals enliven the street that runs through the village. A rifle with a knotted barrel and even a Warhol-style mosaic of bunches of grapes.
YOU CAN ALWAYS SUPPORT THE PIEVASCIATA B.A.C. PROJECT with a DONATION to GIVE TO ART (Dona ad Arte)!
