Over 100 years after the birth of Yves Montand, Ivo Livi by registry, born in the Tuscan city of Monsummano, provides a fun recognition of words and music around an artist who embodied the example of the outsider being able to conquer large audiences beyond the Alps and even to America.
An incredible career, which has ranged from song to auteur cinema and which embodies all the key themes of the twentieth century just past, yet never so distant: Montand, son of communist refugees in France, starts from nothing and arrives in Paris, becoming first, a light singer, then a “busy” singer, then an expert interpreter of auteur cinema and a showman tout-court, supported by artists of the caliber of Edith Piaf, Simone Signoret, his wife, and Marylin Monroe.
