An hour of music at sunset with…
Big Band Machine! Formerly Arbia Big Band, has existed since 1997 and is an unusual big band. There less brass instruments, but the ensemble also includes flutes and clarinets. This combination means that repertoire also goes beyond typical jazz orchestra pieces and ranges from Pietro Mascagni to Carla Bley, from Scott Joplin to Massive Attack. Among the many concerts, we particularly remember their participation in the “Bluesin’, Jazzin’ & Rockin’” festival in 2001 in Tamai (Pordenone) and the “Sarteano Jazz 2006”. In November 2007, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the formation, the former ABB performed at the medieval farm of Cuna (SI) with the New York trumpeter Nate Birkey as a special guest. The concert was recorded on CD.
The director and main arranger of Big Band Machine is saxophonist and clarinetist Klaus Lessmann who solos in both.
